3D plant capture with Gaussian Splatting

This application is based on the work done from the splant project.
The goal of this application is to process and analyze images or video files at a large scale efficiently, producing a downloadable and shareable .ply file containing the plant of interest.

How to use

You are able to upload your data for processing through the "Jobs" tab on Desktop or the hamburger-button dropdown at the top on Mobile. When uploading your data (whether image or video), please ensure that the plant or object of interest is in the center of the frame. To use this application, you currently must have a valid PAWs account and must be whitelisted by the admin.

Recording the Plant

When recording the plant, take a circular path around the plant, keeping the object of interest as centered as possible. Aim for 30s-60s for the video and angle the camera so that is slightly above the ground looking down.

Uploading the plant from your phone to computer

Move the video from your phone to a desktop using any means you find appropriate - Google Drive or OneDrive is a simple solution. Name the video appropriately.

Uploading the video to splant

Log in to splant using your CAS/PAWS login. This should be available for every student and facilty of the University of Sakatchewan. If you do not have a CAS account contact us and we can supply you one. Once you have logged in navigate to the Jobs tab. You should be able to click create which will prompt you for your job name and video. Afterwards, click Create.

Downloading the rendered file

Once your file has finished processing. It should say COMPLETE for its status. You can hit the download button and grab the PLY File.

Viewing the Finished Product

Navigate to the Viewer tab. Here you can drag the downloaded ply file into the viewer and view your product.

Editting the Finished Product

Navigate to the Supersplat Editor tab. Here you can press File -- Import to get your files in the editor.
